Dr. Barbara Bridges, professor of philosophy, art and education and 20 year veteran K-12 art teacher, sets aside one week a year for Student Art Week. The Sandy Point Arts Retreat for Students Ages 9-12 is designed to be a life changing experience. Barbara incorporates philosophy (of art and life), intensive critical and creative thinking activities, collaborative and individual art making designed to connect to each participant’s abilities and interests, creative exercise, day trips, beach time, and culminates with a community feast and art show. The cottage has a studio with fiber (4 harness and back strap looms), sculpture—found/mosaics/tiles/wood, painting, drawing, creative digital software and general supplies for creative activities. We will communicate before and after the retreat on a Virtual Community discussion board.

Participants are chosen by application and scholarships are available. Tuition, room, board and most supplies: $1,500.00. Two apprentice appointments are open for one female and one male age 16-19. One apprentice appointment is available for one art education college student.
