We are Looking for Our Future Leaders

You are invited to collaborate in the design of a Visual Culture National Art Educators Association Distinguished Fellows Institute. NAEA Distinguished Fellows are the leading voices, recognized by their peers, in the field of art education. The purpose of the Institute will be to contribute to the discourse/ dialogue focused on practical applications of the visual culture approach to teaching art education. The Institute members will be carefully selected by the Distinguished Fellows through application. The Institute will be held at Chateau Mer (Sea House), a cottage on a beach in Sandy Point, Maine. The Institute is designed using a constructivist model and will include: Distinguished Fellows speakers, discussion, movement/performance, text, visual, music, art making (and beyond) as several methods of inquiry. The registration limit is 25. The goal of the institute is to encourage a joyful, relaxing and dynamic dialogue inviting full voice from all the creative disciplines. There will be reflective time, beach walking time, alone time and collaborative time built in the schedule. A tentative title is Leadership Strategies in Art Education: The Power of Collaborative Creating. We would value your comments as we design this Institute. The Sandy Point Distinguished Fellows Leadership Institute is intended to act as pilot for an art education institute leadership model.
